Adriana Lazarescu, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Adriana Lazarescu is a gastroenterologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta.  She received her MD degree at the University of Toronto, followed by internal medicine residency at the University of Western Ontario and gastroenterology subspecialty training at Queen’s University.  She then completed a CIHR-funded fellowship in esophageal motility at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium with Dr. Daniel Sifrim.  

Dr. Lazarescu is the director of the GI Motility Lab at the University of Alberta Hospital.  She is the founder and director of the Advanced Neurogastroenterology and Motility Fellowship program and a former director of the GI Residency Training Program at the University of Alberta.  Dr. Lazarescu is the former president of the Canadian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Network. Her clinical and research interests are in GI motility and medical education.
