Dr. Elaine Yong is a gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where she serves as Division Head of Gastroenterology. She completed her residency in Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto, followed by advanced fellowship training in Therapeutic Endoscopy at St. Michael’s Hospital and Endoscopic Ultrasound at Johns Hopkins Hospital. A dedicated educator, Dr. Yong has held leadership roles as Program Director for the University of Toronto Gastroenterology Fellowship Program and as Site Director of Education at Sunnybrook. In her current role as Medical Director of Endoscopy, she leads initiatives in quality improvement, education, and strategic system planning to advance the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
